Neil Young’s new protest album, “Living With War,” is being streamed for free on his Web site. Better to listen to it there than waste your money on it if it’s no good. It’s about time a folk singer put out a song about this war. So far hip-hop artists have been much better at noting the social consequences of the war and the disaster on the Gulf Coast.
Also, a Hollywood producer has put out an album of hip-hop songs from a variety of military personnel stationed in Iraq. It’s called “Voices from the Frontline.” It’s not nearly as good as 4th25’s “Live from Iraq,” but it’s all right. Some good testimonies in between songs — but they can be annoying when you listen to the album straight through.
