We did almost nothing for SXSW this year. In fact, we did two things:
- On Monday, we had dinner with Golden Krishna of NoUI fame. We took him to one of my favorite Mexican places here in Austin — outside of downtown, away from the SXSW craziness. He’s a really nice guy, and smart. If you don’t keep up with him, you should. He also has a new book, The Best Interface Is No Interface: The simple path to brilliant technology, you should check out. I’m waiting for my inscribed copy.
- Today, we went to our only music event. It was an unofficial, anti-showcase called Sux by Suxwest 5. We had no idea who any of the artists were. Turned out, it’s “noise.” That’s right. There’s a music subgenre of a subgenre called “noise.” It’s the sound of screeching and feedback and roaring and, well, noise. Interesting.
So, we didn’t do much for SXSW, but we did have a good, enlightening time.
