disparate thoughts

Driving into work today down West Sixth with the deep blue sky above and the sun’s reflection on the leaves of the trees lining the street turning each one into a little droplet of gold, I thought, “This is what we’re fighting for.” I passed a guy going to work at Waterloo Records and a UPS man getting back into his truck after a delivery as I was on my way to work at a liberal non-profit. “This,” I thought, “is what we’re fighting for. And it is worth it if only because we have the opportunity to improve upon its fundamental goodness.”

I’m planning to craft a longwinded response to this column by David Brooks. He’s just wrong. Read Kerry’s acceptance speech for yourself.
